new character

i used illustrator to create facial expressions for my character, and uvmapped them on top of the clothes i had put on him. As usual i wanted my character to have a quirky look, a strange personality! so i gave him the biggest cheesy smile, two different coloured eyes that scream at the camera. I changed the facial structure to suit his smile. The final image above has eyebrows and hair. I need to now rig him with bones so i can animate him for my D and AD project.

I used the 'hair and fur' modifier to create the lovely locks on my character. I learned how to make the hair longer, shorter, frizz, colour, spike and flop. The only trouble is i couldn't save the hair in the place i wanted it to stay, when i reopened the file it would be spread all over the character. so i would have to do this last i think. But i like the reddy coloured hair, it goes with the red hoody he is wearing.

modeling the ear and hood were the biggest challenges because once i extruded the polygons i had to then pull them back in to have that effect of the skin going back in and also that fold over of the hood.. but as a first attempt at more detailed modeling i think i have done pretty good.
